Based in Guildford, Surrey, my background is as an experienced primary school teacher with more than just a passing interest in music. I have always taken a lead in providing great musical experiences for children, whatever their musical expertise. In 2015, I completed the EPTA UK Piano Teacher's Course with Distinction, which has enabled me to transfer my teaching skills into teaching individuals piano. As a member of The Curious Piano Teachers I am constantly inspired with CPD and kept up-to-date with new developments. I make use of a wide selection of games and technology to help pupils deepen their understanding.
As well as my private piano teaching, I teach class music at Glenesk School and musicianship classes with Vivace Music School, plus I have always participated in music as an individual. I currently play viola in Woking Symphony Orchestra. My over-arching aim as a music teacher is to instil a life-long love of music-making in pupils, at whatever level they achieve.

- create an environment where pupils enjoy and feel secure in their lessons so they can make maximum progress - we agree long term goals and if this includes exams, I usually favour Trinity Guildhall
- provide pupils with fun, enjoyable and challenging activities, physical games and digital apps, designed to develop both general musicianship and specifically pianistic skills in a logical, sequential manner, planned individually to fit with each pupil’s learning style
- ensure pupils are introduced to music from a range of styles and genres so they can explore those which particularly interest them
- provide encouragement for pupils to express themselves musically, with or without notation
- provide opportunities to perform and celebrate their achievements
